Education is a fundamental right of a human. It is an impactful tool for individual empowerment, economic growth, and social development. But memorizing books, increasing grades, and getting good jobs cannot be the main purpose of education. Rather, the aim of education should be to enrich knowledge, strengthen humanity, morality, values, and develop proper behavior. Education helps to lead people towards development. But the recent educational system destroys this flow of development.
Today’s educational system builds mentally weak students who depend on notes, sheets, and books, and their knowledge is stuck in a limited version. They just want to get good marks. In fact, our current education system is to blame for this situation. From schools to family, students are now judged as “good” primarily based on their grades. It builds comparison among students. And students with low grades are often forced to cheat or copy in their exams due to that comparison.
Our youth are very much advanced because of modern technology. But unfortunately, they now use that technology in a negative way.
I faced a copyright case in my university life. One of my classmate was caught for cheating by using ChatGPT to complete her thesis paper and then she was dropped out from that semester. Like her, many more are there in our society. Thus, students lose their morality and values, though educational institutions are places to learn those things.
If we search for the root of these problems, we will find our educational system. In this system, students cannot show their creativity and thinking power.
According to my perspective, our educational system should be more practical, student-friendly, and focused on developing real-life skills rather than just grades. There should be no mark distribution. If mark distribution is necessary, it should be kept confidential. All students should have basic knowledge across all disciplines, such as science, commerce, and arts, so that they can explore and apply for any job sector.
